The Exchange of Academic Publications

The Institute maintains an ongoing exchange of academic publications with other research organizations, university libraries, and publishers of Buddhist periodicals. Our publications come in two forms: two annual journals, the Chung-Hwa Buddhist Journal and Chung-Hwa Buddhist Studies, and books in the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies Series. Regular exchange of these publications is carried out with sixteen domestic and 222 foreign organizations including those in Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia.

Our Academic Foundation

We have recently celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the Institute¡¦s forerunner, the Institute of Buddhist Studies at the China Academy, which began formally enrolling students in 1981. Enrollment at Chung-Hwa has continued through the twentieth anniversary in 2001, to the present. Despite one year when admission was temporarily suspended, there has never been a single day in these twenty years in which we have ceased making efforts to carry on the Buddha¡¦s wisdom through academic cultivation here at the Institute.

During these twenty years, we have invited not only domestic scholars specializing in various fields, but also those from Japan, the USA, India, Tibet, Burma, and Germany as full-time, part-time, or guest professors to bring the Institute the broad and impressive field of international perspectives and professional insights. Perhaps most appreciated are the faculty who were previously students at the Institute and have returned to teach after earning their doctorate degrees abroad. Their service to the Institute helps form one of the most highly qualified faculty among domestic research institutes.
