NEW (3.6.1997) I have completed a revised table of Pinyin readings for the Han Characters in the Universal Character Set UCS-2 (Unicode). It is available for download here as textfile UNIPINDB (ca 290 kB) and as a zipped archive UNIPINDB.ZIP (ca. 95kB) .

(9.5.1997) Taming the masses A practical approach to the encoding of variant and rare characters in premodern Chinese texts.
This is a revised and slightly expanded version of a talk held at Academia Sinica in Taipei on March 7th, 1997. It gives some background on the reasonings behind KanjiBase. At the end (Table 5) is a detailed statistical breakdown of the character frequency of the texts on the ZenBase CD1.
