Installing KanjiBase for Windows
Unfortunately there is no automatic installation procedure. :-(
But installation is quite easy and straightforward:
- Create a new directory on your hard disk. Copy all the filesfrom the
KANJIBAS directory on the ZenBase CD1 into this new directory.
- Copy the files VBRUN300.DLL and VBOA300.DLL from the KANJIBAS directory
into the WINDOWS SYSTEM directory (typically C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM).
- Create an icon to access KanjiBase conveniently: in the Program-manager
select [NEW] from the [FILE] menu and go to the directory where the KanjiBase
files are located (on your hard disk, or if you lack space, on your CD). Select
the file KANJIBAS.EXE, and a new icon willappear on your desktop.
- You can now double-click on this icon and start using KanjiBase. If you do
this for the first time the Preferences window will open. Please enter to the "directory"
entry in the preferences window the path to the directory on your hard disk (or
on the CD) where the file KANJIBAS.EXE is located. If you are pointing to the
directory on the CD-ROM, you have to specify a path in the Ramdisk-entry:
This does not need actually to be a
RAM-Disk, it can be any directory, but it must be writable.
KanjiBase for Windows is now installed on your computer. You can enter a
searchkey and call up characters. The dictionary window sometimes hides under
the search window when the program starts for the first time. Just drag it to
another location on your screen. The next time the program starts, it will use
this new position.
