Journal of Chinese Buddhist Studies

Hwakang Buddhist Journal was re-named Chung Hwa Buddhist Journal in 1987 to publish significant academic research on Buddhism in Chinese, English, and Japanese languages. In order to make articles more readily available to international academia, it became an English journal focusing on Chinese Buddhism in Dec. 2008.
In 2014, the Journal changed its name to Journal of Chinese Buddhism, becoming the first scholarly journal in English devoted exclusively to the historical study of Chinese Buddhism in the premodern and modern periods.
